EFL Listening Activities: 5 New Lessons

Off2Class is proud to announce the release of our newest EFL Listening Activities!

You can find our new EFL Listening Activities (LA026 to LA030) on our lesson library. These new teacher-led EFL Listening Activities continue to fill out our beginner-level series. They are perfect to promote naturalness and fluency with your students. Each teacher-led lesson comes with an adjoining set of homework. These homework activities include audio recordings and comprehension questions where students are required to listen for specific information. The feedback from our EFL listening activities has been very positive! We plan on continuing the series into the intermediate and advanced levels…. so stay tuned!
Here’s a summary of what you can find in our 5 new EFL listening activities:
LA026 – Past Simple, Negative Pronunciation
First, we continue on from LA020 to LA025 where we model different pronunciation elements of the past simple. In LA026, we review the form of the past simple negative (focusing on the contracted form in everyday speech: didn’t + base verb) and then move to modelling and drilling this sound pattern:

LA027 – Past Simple, Questions and Short Answers
Our final lesson in our series of EFL listening activities focused on the past simple covers the past simple question form. We pay special attention to the use of rising intonation in the question form as this sound pattern can be a challenge for many students. We give students ample opportunity to listen to and practice rising intonation.
We finish the lesson by introducing negative past simple questions used when the speaker is confirming something they assume to be true. For example, we model the difference in the speaker’s expectations for these two questions:

  • Did you buy a present for your mom? (no expectation that the present has been purchased)
  • Didn’t you buy a present for your mom? (expectation that the present has been purchased)

In LA028 and LA029 we cover present simple yes/no questions.
In LA028 we focus on Yes/No questions with to be and in LA029 we focus on Yes/No questions with do/does.
LA030 – Adverbs of Frequency, Habits and Habitual Actions
In LA030 we introduce common adverbs or frequency to express habits (I usually read before bed). We match these adverbs of frequency with the concept of how often questions. We finish the lesson with several activities where students must listen for specific information and answer comprehension questions about a speaker’s routine.
