Yes, you can certainly send a lesson and homework to a student without teaching the lesson at a specific time.  All you need to do is enroll the student into a lesson, and then immediately close the classroom and assign the homework. This will give the student access to both the lesson summary slides as well as the homework assignment.  This works well for a flipped classroom approach or to give your student some supplementary self-study material.  Watch this video to see how to set up asynchronous work for your students!
