A message from co-founder James Heywood

Diversity has always been at the heart of Off2Class. The three co-founders originate from three countries on three different continents. Aside from a common passion for education, our backgrounds are surprisingly different. The variety in our life experiences and interests brought us together with the goal to build a product that teachers will love, and love to use.

While we are still both a small and young company, we’ve grown a lot since we launched the website in 2015. You, our clients and customers, are also a wildly diverse group of people. And the team at Off2Class is about as diverse as it gets. We especially want to celebrate our diversity on our birthday. So Happy birthday to Off2Class, or as we would say in my hometown of Montreal, Joyeux Anniversaire à Off2Class.

And now for some fun statistics about us…

Together,

  • We work in 6 time zones
  • Speak 18+ languages (including every single UN official language)
  • Based on where we were born, we represent 6 continents: Africa, Asia, Europe, North America, Oceania, South America
  • And… 14+ different countries

We know first-hand the importance of learning English…

  • 45% of team members indicated that English is not a mother tongue,
  • 80% indicated that they do not live in their place of birth,
  • And… 50% have taught or are currently teaching ESL

And we are on a mission to provide access to high-quality language learning…

  • >9 million sessions launched
  • >195,000 active students
  • >104,000 active teachers

We look forward to seeing what the next 8 years will bring!
