What is the Off2Class ESL Newcomer Curriculum Training Program?

The Newcomers Training Program is an asynchronous training series on effective teaching for Newcomer students. It is designed to help both new and experienced secondary ELD teachers.

After completing the program, teachers will be familiar with Newcomers’ unique challenges and needs, useful terminology related to Newcomers, and effective English language development strategies.

What does Module 1 of the training program cover?

Module 1 explores:

  • The characteristics and needs of Newcomer students
  • Challenges faced by Newcomers in US schools
