We’re excited to share this free writing test prep lesson, designed to help students prepare for state language proficiency assessments. Specifically, many district teachers use this lesson for ELPA21 practice. Introduction to Writing, the first of six writing-focused test prep lessons, introduces students to the general format of a Writing proficiency test. Using practice questions and sample responses, students begin learning how to craft coherent responses that demonstrate their mastery of academic concepts.

This lesson is ideal for all students who are preparing to take state language proficiency assessments such as the ELPA21. This includes Long-term ELs, Newcomers, and Students with Limited or Interrupted Formal Education (SLIFE).
