Multiword Verbs with back is an ESL lesson plan download at the CEFR: C1; WIDA: Bridging-Reaching level.

Objective: To introduce and provide practice with the following multiword verbs: back down, back off, and back up. To introduce common nouns and participle adjectives formed from these multiword verbs.

Pre-requisite: This is an advanced series and the student requires a strong understanding of the form and function of multiword verbs.

Before you teach, keep in mind: We recommend the use of a good English dictionary that assists the student to understand the properties of each multiword verb. We encourage asking students for multiple answers to exercises, where possible.
