A conversational approach
.
I use a conversational approach. My student is at the center of learning which means that you do most of the talking. I just guide you in the right direction and help you use the language accurately. By genuinely listening to what you are interested in and what you are struggling with, I create lessons that are interesting and beneficial for you. For example, I have a fitness manager and nutritionist who needs to expand her vocabulary in her industry so most of her lessons are about fitness and nutrition. Lessons are tailor-made to fit your needs and interests.
I am patient and supportive and you can discuss anything with me. There is hardly anything that I am not interested in. I have a passion for learning and reading. If you want to discuss a particular article you have read and don’t understand, send it to me and we can discuss it during my conversation classes. If there is a grammar rule you have been struggling with for a long time, tell me about it and we will learn it during my structured grammar lessons. My lessons usually follow a step-by-step plan that allows you to improve your English while discussing interesting, relevant, and current topics.

What you can expect
.
Once you decide to learn with me, I will send you a placement test so we can figure out your current English level and which areas we need to work on. I will then create a document for you which I call a learning plan which has your goal and what lessons you need to take to reach it. For example, if you placed at level A2 on the placement test, your goal could be level B1. The learning plan will exactly tell you how many lessons you will need to take to reach level B1. You will receive access to your personal student account, access to the lessons, and homework to make sure you reach your goals. I will provide you with ongoing feedback so you can constantly improve.

About me

I am from Texas but I have lived all over the world which makes me open-minded and interested in different cultures. I’ve lived in Germany and in Senegal (where I worked as a teacher) so I speak German and French. I currently live in Italy and I speak a little Italian. I live in North Italy close to the Swiss border with my family and I am really happy here.
I love being outdoors in nature or at a lake. I enjoy traveling, meeting new people, reading books, singing, and eating! I believe that our time on this planet is limited so we have to enjoy each and every day to the fullest. I am also a big believer in a growth mindset which means that you can learn anything if you want to.
I am passionate about education. Prior to my career in teaching (which I believe is the best job in the world), I worked in finance. I am knowledgeable about how the economy works. I can easily spend a Saturday night watching a Yale class on YouTube about politics. But I can also go have some drinks and listen to some good house or hip hop music. I am multifaceted and on a quest for knowledge!
